Is Simparica Trio safe for dogs?
Simparica Trio is FDA-approved and considered safe for most dogs 8 weeks and older weighing at least 2.8 lbs. However, isoxazoline products (including sarolaner) have been associated with rare neurological events (tremors, seizures) in some dogs. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures.
Can I give Simparica Trio without a heartworm test?
No. A heartworm test is required before starting Simparica Trio. Giving heartworm preventives to a dog already infected with adult heartworms can cause serious, potentially fatal reactions. Your vet will test your dog before prescribing.
